I bought these shoes for paddling and getting in and out of the kayak on islands in Maine. I wanted a shoe with good traction and wouldn't allow detritus to be a bother when on beaches with sand and pebbles. These shoes are perfect for this! They keep my always-cold-feet warm, snug enough so nothing gets into the shoe and have great traction.

They do run small. I wear a size 9, bought the 10 as recommended by others and had to go up to a size 11!

They also have an annoying seam at the heel which caused blisters after a short hike on an island. Wearing thin socks inside the shoes fixes this.

Overall - these are a pretty good shoe!

These shoes were about two sizes smaller than the size on the label. I don't know why sellers don't demand uniformity in sizing. This wasn't even close and just had to be returned.

I LOVE these for kayaking. I think they're stylish in comparison to other options on the market. They run VERY VERY small. I normally wear a 7, maybe 8, and the Kickers that work for me are a 10.

wore these on my latest 3 week grand canyon trip.
I like them a lot, but very difficult to put on, I had to wrestel with them fot a long time to put them on. warm with hydro -skin socks and comfy too.
nice and wide, good traction but thin sole for scouting grand canyon rapids on sharp rocks
I wear a womens 6 and had to buy an 8, once I got them on the fit was good. order way up in size.
If you have a high arch foot they will be dificult to put on

      Q:

Sizing. My wife usually wears a womens 9. At our local store the only option was to try on a mens, and mens size 9 fit her. What size in this womens would she need? Seems from what we've read, she should order a womens 11, but hate to order wrong size

I purchased this shoe and love it. It is true...I usually wear a size 7 but ordered a 9. It is still snug but I am able to wear seal skin socks if I want to. I hope this helps.

My wife's feet are skinny. Size 10 womens in this model fit her well -- she
is a womens 9, and a mens 8 or 8.5, but they are always uncomfortably wide
-- and these are now her default canoeing shoe, after a long search! She
hated the dinky sole protection on many of those she tried. And cheap ones
invariably were of shoddy workmanship as well. These are very satisfactory,
slightly tight around the ankles, so they might be hard to get on and off
initially. They are wide, but not overly so inside the shoe. They also

I woul go at least a size up from what you wear in normal shores and maybe up two bc they are tough to get on you foot so I woul recommend a ten or eleven women's or just order the nine men's bc it is a bottle so gender does not matter

I also wear a size 9 in women's and had to send my pair back and get a size 10 in women's because the sizing was off and they don't do 1/2 sizing.

      Q:

Why with all the comments about the sizes being very off, are they sized that way? Who chooses the sizing? Because of this, I don't know if when typically a 7.5 should order an 8, or 9, it even 10....

I got a ten and I wear a ten and they work well they are a little difficult to get on so I would probably go one size up from normal so get an eight or an eight point five.

Are these shoes good to use sailing. I need a wet shoe that will not leave black marks on the boat and that will provide good traction.

I used these shoes while on an 18 days backcountry canoe trip through
Canada and a 14 day backcountry sea kayaking trip in Baja California. I
found that on wet rocks or wet moss they did not provide very good traction
but when I used them on docks or while portaging the traction was great. I
think if you were just using them on a boat they would work fine and would
        not leave any marks.
