I use this bootie for beach-entry surfing (as opposed to boat-entry). I love it! It stays on very well with the pull-string and velcro top strap, and it keeps sand out pretty well while I'm entering and exiting the ocean. They are super sturdy and durable. I can't imagine ever needing to replace them. I also use them for hikes that involve stream crossings, waterfalls, and known muddy terrain. They don't provide much support for that much walking, but they are not bad, have good traction, and don't mind the water and mud.

They are a little awkward to get on and off, but not more than expected for how well they stay on. I'm thinking of trying a more lightweight model for surfing because these are a little bit overkill, but not by much.

OK, but not my favorite

these were a little hard to get on...they were fine, really, but I like my felt soled booties much more as an open boater...

    Comments about NRS Kicker Wetshoe:

I have been looking for a pair of water shoes that can stand up to the demands of kayaking & surfskis. These are durable while not adding unneeded material which would make them tight in a surfski cockpit. I have had other shoes sucked off my feet in sticky bottom mud. These shoes, while relatively easy to put on and take off, once you engage the velcro strap, you would need a crowbar to pry them off.

          Q:

I just received my order of the Women's Kicker Remix size 9 and it is too small, even though I ordered the larger size as recommended. It fits too snug for the big toe, otherwise it may have been OK. I wear a women's 8-8.5 M shoe and now wonder if the NRS Kicker Wetshoe might be the better fit for me as the toe box is more square than the wommen's kicker. What size in this shoe should I order if I want to be comfortable. It says go down one size, but if I order to fit a 8.5 M what size is that?

I have had the NRS kicker wetshoe for 4 or so years.  I am always a size 8 in any shoe and ordered a 7 which has been perfect.  I don't think this is a women's shoe though.  I believe it is unisex sizing.

Cross reference the sizes using this standardized chart.
It looks like a Women's 8-1/2 is more or less equivalent ot a Men's 7 for US
sizes. Give it a try, maybe order the Men's 7-1/2 as well (following the "down
one size" recommendation). NRS will accept returns if it doesn't work out (as
long as you don't leave signs of wear, like walking around outside).

I can find no removable part in the shoe.  Also there is no plastic, only rubber.  Not sure what you are asking about but our family has 3 pairs of these booties and they have been great for numerous kayaking trips.  Hope this helps.

The shoes are built on different lasts. The Remix has a wider, more naturally shaped toe box. Look on the Larger Images & More Views link on each product page for the bottom view of the shoe to see this difference.
