I used the product as a wet insulating layer under foul weather gear and neoprene booties to ward off the cold, sailing in 56* water in San Francisco.
This product did effectively keep me warm, but I think a design incorporating more neoprene panels better shaped to a foot would help it fit better and more comfortably inside footwear.
Ordering a size smaller prevents the fit problems associated with excess material, the neoprene stretches to fit anyway.

I wear these while sailing my Hobie 16 in cold water/weather, the 16's known as a wet boat. First unloading from the trailer, I'm in the water almost to my waist, socks are well underwater but my feet will stay dry. I also have to walk the boat out untill the water is over my knees before I can board the boat I 'm able to put a pair of wool socks on first and the two pair have kept my feet warm during 4 hrs of non-stop sailing. The only thing I would like to add would be the sole from the Deserado socks.

I bought this product in hope of extending the kayaking season when the water in this region gets too cold to get wet getting in and out of my kayak. They worked so well I knew my wife needed a pair on our trip to the Buffalo River, AR. in March.
Worn underneath our paddle pants they were great! As long as you didn't step in over your knees. Even if you did they acted like a wet suit keeping you legs and feet warm.
They are very comfortable under my Keen H2's. the only con was prunie toes after a long day of paddling.

Good Afternoon, I would recommend the larger size since many of my fellow paddlers wear a sock inside of the boundary sock for warmth. I wear a size nine and bought the large which is perfect. I have two questions. One, I use a pair of Kokatat TROPOS Whirlpool Bibs to kayak in. They have ankle gaskets that keep water from getting above my ankles, but in cold water, I'd like to keep my feet dry as well. Can I use a pair of NRS boundary socks, with the ankle gaskets from my bibs over the socks to keep both my feet and legs dry? And question two. I wear a mens size 10 1/2 shoe, what size socks should I order?

First I am a small gal and cant answer men's sizes. I used my nrs both
the regular sox and the heavy duty for real cold, sox inside nrs dry
pants gasket and sat in the front of a cat on the grand canyon for 3
weeks including some wading, needless to say got soaked. Worked fine. cold
trip in November ed of oct. I had keen booties they would not fit in my
kayak.

Answer to number one, yes you can, but you cannot submerge your foot higher than your sock height as there will be wrinkles in your ankle gasket that will allow water to go above gasket height, you may have a problem with your gasket being too tight though and causing you discomfort on long paddles. I personally wear a pair of spray pants over my boundary socks that have a Velcro closure so you can regulate the tightness at your ankle. They also allow for your pants to drain quicker. I would order the XL size. Hope this helps.
