On Sale: $33.50
Say goodbye to cold, bruised, battered feet and ankles. The NRS Desperado Sock lets you stuff your tootsies into even the smallest kayak, but still provides the warmth and protection you need.
- 3-mm Terreprene™ neoprene with a stretchy spandex exterior ensures your feet will be warm and comfortable.
- Extra padding in the toe and heel gives superior in-the-boat protection and a ToughTex™ wear patch adds durability.
- 1.5-mm textured rubber sole won't add bulk, and still protects your feet both in and out of the boat.
- Neoprene HydroCuff™ grips your ankle, helping keep water out and warmth in.
- Bungee pull-cord at the ankle helps secure the sock, so they'll stay on if you swim.

NRS Desperado Socks with HydroCuff - Closeout Q: What's the best/safest way to clean these? Asked on 6/6/2013 by Rudy Mang Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: This being my first pair...I limit cleaning to hand washing w/mild soap and laying out to air dry... Answered on 6/10/2013 by Anonymous A: I ran them through the gentle cycle in the washing machine and then air dried them. They came out good as new. Answered on 6/6/2013 by Anonymous A: I've washed mine in the washing machine and dried them in the sun. That seems to work. Answered on 6/6/2013 by Anonymous A: I've sent them through the washing machine with soap before (front loader, so likely more gentle than the old type with that agitator in the middle). NRS Desperado Socks with HydroCuff - Closeout Q: I have had frostbite before with pretty bad nerve damage in my feet and am trying to find the best and cheapest way to keep my feet dry and warm. Can these be worn underneath the 'NRS Paddle Wetshoe' or any other shoe? Asked on 5/11/2013 by mitch from the open road Know the answer? Answer this question 6 answers A: I dont know they are rather bulky.. Sounds like ya need neoprene socks under these babys Answered on 5/24/2013 by Scooter from The 'burgh A: Not sure about any other show but I usually just wear them with wool socks and I've been warm so far, and this is paddling winter months in western nc. Hope this helps!! Sent from my iPhone Answered on 5/12/2013 by Anonymous A: HI Mitch. I tried wearing them under my water shoes but no luck. The sole on the sock is too thick to wear inside another shoe. Unless you are wearing them in a winter boot like a Sorel. We have not tried them in the water yet but will next week. Good luck J Answered on 5/12/2013 by Anonymous A: Mitch, this would not be a good choice to wear inside another shoe. The Expedition Sock, Item # 23411, is a very warm liner for shoes. The HydroCuff top will keep splash out, but if immersed above the top, water will enter. The SealSkinz Submerge Socks, Item # 23511, will block water entry, but are not very warm by themselves. The Boundary Shoe, Item # 2308, has a high top, 5 mm thick neoprene and has waterproof seams. Give us a call, 800.635.5202, and we'll be able to help further in getting what you need. Answered on 5/11/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: I'd probably look for something else. Despite being called a sock, there is a tread of sorts on the bottom. It helps with traction though it's thin enough that the gravel in the parking lot is still uncomfortable. I think that tread would be too thick to fit comfortably into a shoe. Also, I find that these do help with keeping my feet warm, but they are not ideal for keeping them dry. It's easy to get water past the draw cord at the top and the tread keeps them from draining. If I've gone for a swim, I often find that it's a good idea to take these off and drain the water out so that I'm not sloshing around. Answered on 5/11/2013 by Scott from Warren, NJ A: I'd never thought of wearing them under anything. They work great for what I need; a thin layer of padding in a tight carbon bow. It would work if you oversize your outer shoe. But these aren't water tight (esp. the top fit). I'd think you may be better w thick tight neoprene socks under the paddle wetshoe or such. NRS Desperado Socks with HydroCuff - Closeout Q: how much doe this shoe weigh? Asked on 1/21/2013 by bob Know the answer? Answer this question 6 answers A: One Medium (Size 9) bootie weighs 6 ounces Answered on 2/12/2013 by Anonymous A: A pair of Mediums (men's size 9) weighs 0.70 pounds. Answered on 1/24/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: It is a very light shoe. You will hardly know you have it on. Answered on 1/22/2013 by Anonymous A: Around 5 0z per shoe. Answered on 1/22/2013 by Anonymous A: Each shoe weighs 6 ounces. Yes they are light and yet they keep you warm. I like these shoes!! Answered on 1/21/2013 by Anonymous A: I just paddled. 1 wet shoe weighs 9 ounces, so I'll guess that dry shoe weighs 6 ounces, i.e. quite light. Answered on 1/21/2013 by Anonymous
NRS Desperado Socks with HydroCuff - Closeout Q: Can they be worn with a long wetsuit that goes down around my ankles? Will the bootie fit over the suit? Asked on 9/19/2012 by SUPer Know the answer? Answer this question 8 answers A: I think that would work, I bought a pair a size too large to fit over the neoprene socks of my dry wear. They do run small from what I've read anyway. But that is the length of the foot part, the cuff is plenty stretchy. Hope that helps. Answered on 9/19/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes, the bootie should easily fit over your wetsuit as the "hydro cuff" has some stretch to it. Answered on 9/19/2012 by Anonymous A: Sure, no problem, I have worn mine with a wetsuit in the past. The bootie slides up easily over the wetsuit. Answered on 9/19/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes, in my case it would. The shoe has bungee type strap around the ankle that can be adjusted to fit over a wetsuit. With bare ankles I kept the strap snug, so there would be enough room to let it out to accomodate a neoprene wetsuit. Wendy Answered on 9/19/2012 by Wendy from Forestville, NY A: The sock material is so flexible and the top is only a mid height, you could go either way (wetsuit over or wetsuit under the booties). There might even be (likely will be) a small gap between the two. Answered on 9/19/2012 by Anonymous A: They don't go much higher than your ankle....with that being said if the water is cold enough to need a wetsuit you may want to buy different footwear with more mm of neoprene Answered on 9/19/2012 by Anonymous A: The Booties will fit find over the wetsuit without any problems. I purchased two pairs of the Desperado Socks with HydroCuff, XL and XXL. I wear a size 10.5. I purchased the XL to wear normally and the XXL to wear over my dry-suit that has feet embedded in the suit. I have to agree with prior reviews that these boots run a little small. The XXL is a great fit for normal wear. I could use an XXXL to wear over my drysuit feet/booties. Answered on 9/20/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes .......the boots are somewhat flexible at the top cuff and have a adjustable drawstring at the top. they would easily fit over a wetsuit. I have been using these for about 5-6 yrs. to kayaksurf ....they are great.. dan. Dan WardWard ConstructionP.O. Box 53231San Jose, Ca. 95153***.**** .....Imagination is more important than knowledge. NRS Desperado Socks with HydroCuff - Closeout Q: Can this type of sock be worn under back-strap adjustable swim fins; the type with pockets for your foot or are they to bulky? Asked on 9/10/2012 by Waterlover from San Luis Obispo, CA Know the answer? Answer this question 8 answers A: I wear these socks with my swim fins with no problems. Answered on 9/10/2012 by Anonymous A: I have never tried using mine as anything but the outermost layer. I can think of nothing about the Sock that would prevent use with a swim fin. It is pretty smooth on the top foot portion which is where I would expect abrasion. Likely would need to change the fin size up at least one size. Give it a try. Joe Answered on 9/10/2012 by Anonymous A: I haven't tried that but would think they would OK. They are the thinnest sock/boot that I've been able to find. I wear them while sailing and started with the Desperado BOOT but found it was to bulky and hard to get under the hiking straps. I like the thin sole and flexibility of the sock, I think you'll like it and be able to use it. Buxton Answered on 9/10/2012 by Buxton from New Brighton, PA A: I have never tried them under fins but I imagine they would be too bulky. They have a flexible rubber sole on the bottom that would take up a bunch of space. I would go with more of a straight neoprene sock. Answered on 9/10/2012 by Anonymous A: I never tried wearing them with fins but they are very low profile. I'm able to survive wearing them in my tight playboy with no problems. Sent from my iPhone Answered on 9/10/2012 by Anonymous A: I'd suspect it would be a bit tight. The upper is a layer of neoprene, which could probably be shoved into a swim fin, particularly if your foot is a bit small, so there's a bit of room. The lower in a relatively thin layer of rubber, but it is designed to give some protection against whatever you might step on in the parking lot or river. That might keep your foot from going into the fin as far as you'd like. Also note that they retain water fairly well. I wear mine for kayaking. If I go for a swim, I usually need to pull each of them off my feet and turn them over to dump out the water when I get to shore. I'm not sure how that would work if swimming, but it seems like it might be inconvenient. Good luck! Scott Answered on 9/10/2012 by Scott from Warren, NJ A: I would imagine that you could wear these under fins. The bottom of the sock has a rubber sole, but I don't believe that it's thick enough to affect putting on the fins. Answered on 9/10/2012 by Anonymous A: This sock could definitely work in that type of swim fin. They're maybe 1.5mm thick in the heel and above area. Answered on 9/11/2012 by Anonymous
