The unique watertight cuff in SealSkinz® Submerge Waterproof Socks ensures that your feet stay dry even if you wade in a little deeper than you planned. Great for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and SUP.
  • Innovative sealing cuff blocks water from entering at the top of this over-the-calf sock (see TIP below).

  • Three-layer MVT (Moisture Vapor Transpiration) fabric structure prevents water from penetrating while allowing perspiration to escape.

  • The durable nylon/Lycra® outer and a comfortable, moisture-wicking inner lining hide a high-tech waterproof, breathable membrane.

  • Designed to keep you dry during intermittent periods of wading in knee-high and deeper water - perfect for launching and landing your boat.

  • Stretch-to-fit material eliminates uncomfortable sags and wrinkles, even during strenuous activity.

  • Seamless design provides total comfort, free of annoying ridges and pressure points.

  • Each sock is high-pressure tested to ensure waterproof performance.

  • TIP: The in-cuff seal must be in continuously close contact with skin all the way around the calf to prevent water from entering the sock. Some causes of an unsuccessful seal are the interference of liner socks or hair, very slender calves relative to the socks size, or excessive perspiration.

  • Note: Hand-wash and drip-dry socks. Do not twist or wring socks, this will damage the waterproof, breathable membrane.
  • Material:  Nylon/Lycra®
  • Seams:  Seamless design
  • Features:
    • Waterproof seal at cuff
    • 15" high
    • High-pressure tested to ensure waterproofness

I went kayaking on the Detroit River on New Years Eve...air temp was 34, water temp was hovering above freezing, as ice shelves were already forming on the banks. The launch area requires me to step in water up to calf level. I wore thermal socks as a base layer, and then these socks over them. Even in the freezing water, I couldn't feel the cold. Once I began paddling, my feet were toasty, but not too warm. 2 hours later, returning to shore, and removing the necessary layers, including these socks, I discovered my thermal socks were still as dry as they were when I initially put them on. We all know that once your feet get cold, it's only a matter of time before it works it's way up...well, rest assured, your feet will NOT be cold if you wear these!

As a side note, the pair I own is rated at a Thermal Protection Level of H2. At first I was alarmed that since this was at the low end of the protection level, that maybe I ought not try this out in 32-33 degree water...well, H2 was perfect in these temps. Any higher on the scale, I would omit wearing thermal socks, and go from there.

This is the second pair of SealSkinz I have purchased. They are waterproof as advertised, however they require care putting on and taking off. The inner liner does not completely cover the waterpoof membrane. My first pair delaminated and are no longer completlely waterproof. Now that I know they require extra care, hopefully this pair will last longer. Take a while to dry after washing. The best method I have found for drying them is to air dry the outside, turn them inside out and dry the inside. With care they work well, they just won't stand up to abuse. Hope this helps with your purchase decision.

Comments about SealSkinz Submerge Waterproof Socks:

I can see where the liner could be slashed with frequent quick changes but for our light duty snow shoeing and winter hikes on packed snow trails they are great if your hiker boot should soak through.
Also great for Spring and Fall kayaking when the water temps are a bit cold. I wear them with my water shoes and I am good to go and don't have to worry about cold wet feet if I have to get into the water while entering or exiting our boats. They seem to breath well, they have never been swetty.
I do recommend the models with at least a thin insulating liner to help protect the water proof layer. I have had my pair for 2 years and my wife asked for a pair this past Christmas. She likes them as well as I do.

                        Ron,
This comfortable and durable product is made in the U.S.A. It is one of the
best purchases I've made in the past year and has held up extremely well under
heavy use. It is a great compliment to cold/wetweather gear.

                      Q:

I would like to use SealSkinz to keep water in rather than out, or more accurately, to keep a dilute vinegar bath around my toes for a few hours at a time. Can they be used in this way? Would I want to turn the Sealskinz inside out so that the black outside is facing the water and the white liner is kept dry?

yeah mate, the sealskinz are great for keeping your feet completely dry.....as far as your clandestine laboratory activities, i am sure the vinegar will be not to caustic on the black side only(white side in)
they are pretty warm and sweaty, most likely creating your own pool of vinegar to soak your feet in. :) got choice on the seal skinz.
they work for both me and my wife.
