The Astral Men's Brewer is a kayaking shoe for all walks of life. It's both a watershoe and a casual shoe. Hop out of your boat and stroll to the pub in style.
  • This is a watershoe that looks as good as it performs.

  • It is so lightweight - less than 8 ounces (214 grams)! This minimalist construction also reduces use of toxic adhesives.

  • The upper is made with Cordura® and Airmesh for durable, breathable performance.

  • Stealth® rubber in the outsole gives you outstanding wet or dry traction.

  • The rockered toe helps the front of the shoe ride up over rocks and is naturally articulated for the kayaking position.

  • The shoe has plenty of drainage ports in sidewalls, sole and heel to rapidly get rid of water.

  • EVA foam in the Barefoot Geometry midsole provides cushioning comfort and protection from sticks and stones.

  • The Brewer also has a step-down heel so you can wear it as a slip-on when you're not likely to get chundered.

  • Marking sole.

Comments about Astral Men's Brewer Watershoe:

So first, these cost less than my normal footwear and since they are supposed to be river specific I thought I'd give them a go. On arrival I was far from stoked. The rubber seemed stiff on the soles, the uppers were a coarse material that didn't not seem like it would work with bare feet, and I was concerned the large drain holes would let in too much silt.

Turns out once you wear them in the river for a few days the uppers soften up, the rubber gets soft and sticky. So good!

Now I wear them everyday. It's super cool to wear the same shoes to work, over the drysuit, and into the playboat.

What's best: no cloth footbed, its just rubber. This way there is not stink! Wicked light weight is awesome too. And they dry plenty fast, the uppers aren't cored with an absorbent material the way most shoes are.

Finally, I'd been looking for a non-absorbent shoe to wear over drysuit booties for near 32f winter boating. Neoprene booties in this environment just hold really cold water to your feet and generally suck. These are going to be perfect!

I use them for kayaking and although they don't seem to grip, once they are on you feet and especially in the water they hold to whatever your walking on.

Comments about Astral Men's Brewer Watershoe:

These are nice, lightweight, and well made shoes. They are, however, not true to size. Order up a size for true fit, for both length and width.

I wear a Men's size 10 in every other shoe, but for these I'm having to exchange them for an 11.

Otherwise, I'm happy with the initial purchase.

Comments about Astral Men's Brewer Watershoe:

I have been wearing the Brewer for a year because I am the co-designer so I've been testing it extensively. My opinion is bias, but totally honest. If you want a great , all around warm weather shoe I sincerely think this is an awesome choice and you will be stoked. P Curry

            Q:

I have size 13 feet. Will these shoes fit in my Dagger Nomad 8.5?

              A:

The Brewer is a pretty low profile shoe. If you can wear other shoes with a full sole in your boat it should work. If you can only cram your feet in there with something super low profile, like the Desperado Sock, it's probably a no-go.

This is a new shoe, so we haven't had much feedback. One of the fellows here who has a pair wears a size 12.5 Nike and says the 12 Brewer works for him.
