Paddling outriggers requires changing grip to switch sides of boat while paddling every few strokes and most gloves too bulky to work well. Dropping a paddle is NOT COOL. These are GREAT! Good grip, flexible on hands, wind proof and warm enough to allow paddling all winter in Oregon. C/S was GREAT to help determine size and model. If anything, they seem to make your hands colder, faster. They are not waterproof (or even water resistant) so they seem to hold the cold water against your skin. Then, they are not wind resistant, so you get evaporative cooling when you're moving or it's windy. It seems like many paddlers (myself included) purchase these as their first pair of gloves, perhaps thinking they look light and unobtrusive (which they are). They quickly find that these gloves aren't particularly well suited to the sport and they are relegated to the bottom of the gear bin. On top of everything else, they have a tendency to tear in the seam right in the valley between the pointer and thumb. This past weekend, a (newbie) friend came very close to frostbite on a river with these. I tried trading her for my gloves, but after one rapid my fingers were throbbing in pain due to the cold. We ended up taping some surgical gloves (carry your first aid kit, kids!) over the top of these to make them a little waterproof and wind blocking. She made it ok, but not very happy. Anyway...I'll give a ringing endorsement to most NRS products, but not this one. Reviewed by 26 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 1-5 Previous | Next » Pros

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Gloves: Amazing gloves, warm, comfortable and have great grip... Thanks NRS ;) Service and delivery comments: This order was lost by the courier (not the fault of NRS) so it took a very long time to be delivered.. However NRS once contacted was really good with there follow up and was ready to resend the order but the order was found and delivered before we got to that step.

Best Uses Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Gloves: This glove is not waterproof. It's not warm, and it's definitely not a cold weather glove. It will protect your hands from the sun in warm weather at the price of leaving your hands wet and chapped all day. It has a good grip and can protect from blisters, but you'd be better off with a fingerless glove for that because at least your fingers would dry out. This glove is worthless in cold weather. The "titanium" in the fabric does not make it warm; it's misleading to call that a benefit because the glove in the cold gets soaking wet, through and through, then gets very cold. I like NRS stuff generally, but this glove is counter-productive in practically every respect for which you'd buy a glove, except sun protection.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Gloves: Would have been the perfect early Autumn, late Spring glove for me(sea kayaking) but these gloves provide absolutely no grip what so ever. Nearly impossible to even hold the paddle, nevermind use it effectively. Their maverick glove is much better suited.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Gloves: I've noticed other reviews that indicated that, in cold water, these gloves don't keep your hands warm -- simple solution to that: use the gloves with pogies. I've always had a hard time sizing paddling gloves, so I called NRS and go the typically knowledgeable and friendly associate, who steered me in the right direction. These gloves are perfect for me -- comfortable, good grip, etc. My only complaint is that, after only about 10 uses, the seams are starting to split. That's easy enough to fix with needle and thread. Bottom line is that they are great gloves for the money especially for someone (like me) who has to wear gloves.

Best Uses Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Gloves: I bought these gloves for summer use in the mornings when it is still cold. They are warm enough and I wanted them to work, but... apparently I have big hands. They fit too tight. I bought the XXL, the largest size, and the seams on the sides of the palm and thumb unraveled after only 4 days of a 7-day Middle Fork Salmon trip. Bottom line, make sure they don't fight tight before you buy.
