NRS Boaters gloves are the best!

These gloves are lightwieght, handy, and give me a sure grip when paddling in local waters like L.I. Sound, Mt.Sinai Harbor, and Setauket Harbor.
I love their fit and durability.

So as the title says - I have a like/dislike relationship with these paddling gloves. I whitewater kayak and SUP mostly. Got these gloves as a gift per requested by yours truly. Thanks, Easter Bunny...bawk bawk!
However I've used them 3 times and they are already showing battle scars.
I'll start off on a positive note with my likes: They are very lightweight and the sun protection really works. Well, doesn't help when my sunscreen on my arms washes off and I get weird farmer glove tan - but the gloves built-in UV protection does work even when wet! They are pretty comfortable. I attribute it to them being fingerless so less like a boa constrictor feel on your fingers while holding a paddle.
Sorry, NRS but I gotta list my dislikes now. The hook and loop closure is uber tacky. Well that's a good thing and a bad thing. Wish there was a different way of locking 'em on your wrists. The hook part of one of my gloves got caught on the delicate spandex that is on the top of the glove. Mind you I liked the spandex - soft, light and stretchy and keeps Mr. Cancer rays off my hands - but I now have a hole on one glove. The other complaint is the faux leather palm. It started pilling really badly the first day I took them on a whitewater course. They are also very slippery and make you grip your paddle tighter than you normally would. Trips 2 & 3 were on the SUP. Again, slickery gloves. Even more pilling and wear.
I wanted these mainly for sun protection and to prevent blisters. So far, they do both - but for how long? and also at the expense of a slippery grip especially when the gloves are wet. Sadly, I think this relationship isn't going to last must longer considering the wear the gloves are showing after only 8-10 hours of use.
      Is this relationship doomed?

We got a gale force wind on our Yampa trip and these fit the bill. Right out of the box I got the protection I needed against blisters that my partner did not have. He was hurting by the time we made camp.

I am a kayak guide and use these for upcoming season. Had pear last year and last whole season. They do get wet and it takes a while to dry. But it gives me a good grip. Its a tight fit and don't get warm when rubbing with paddle. Good buy. But expensive posting to NZ

Comments about NRS Men's Boater's Gloves:

These gloves fit very well and sized right, however, being a "Feather Paddler" over a short time, the inner finger material rolled down and pressed uncomfortably against the finger. Paddling a few thousand strokes per outing as I do, this was a huge nuisance. I would definately recommend these gloves to those with the standard paddling syle. In all fairness I have yet to find a fingerless glove that has worked for me.
