I'm very happy with these gloves but I only used them once so can't comment on their durability. I used them for a 4-hour ocean paddle in January with temps in the 20s and mild winds. There was some splash and they got water on them but my hands stayed very dry and comfortable.

I must be a grouch because this is the second negative review I've done of an NRS glove in less than a month. I gave the NRS Hydroskin Glove a bad review because it was cold and leaked, and left my hands wet all day. At least it gripped the paddle very well. I then ordered the Natural Glove on the recommendation of customer service because it was said to be waterproof, warm and "grippy". I used the Natural Glove yesterday and again today. The natural glove lacks any kind of manual dexterity. It is the exact opposite of "grippy". In a short time, my hands felt tired and cramped from trying to keep my paddle from turning. The first time I accidentally dipped my hand in the water, cold water soaked into the glove and didn't warm up. After 20 minutes, my fingers were freezing and I judged the glove to be counter-productive. I took them off and paddled with bare hands, which was preferable to having heavy wet gloves on, because at least without the gloves, my fingers dried out and I had no problem controling the paddle. The gloves soaked up water and retained it. Why put a tight "hydrocuff" on a glove that lets water in through the fingers? The gloves were very difficult to get on, even when dry due to the hydrocuff, and they're very difficult to get off when saturated with cold water. The gloves say "Titanium" on the tops, but what purpose does titanium serve with this kind of performance? You would never pair this glove with a drysuit in cold weather. The glove seriously impairs manual dexterity, as evidenced by the difficulty in getting the second glove on once you're already wearing the first one. It was very difficult to operate my GPS wearing these gloves. Eventually, I took them off and finished the trip bare handed with the gloves between my legs under the spray skirt.

I only wore them once so far and like them. I wish they have a velcro wristband or eyeleted hole so they can be hung to dry.

      Comments about NRS Natural Gloves:

I got this glove for cold weather paddling at the end of the cold season last year to replace another brand of glove the kept falling apart. I just had the chance to use this glove and as soon as I got in the water I was scared. The grip is sooooooooo slick, it is difficult to hold onto the paddle unless you get a red knuckle grip.

I am trying to figure out a way to make the grip work and would love any suggestions.

Don't buy this glove if you want good grip on you paddle. Other than that it does fit well and kept my hands plenty warm. I would give it 5 stars if I did not think it is almost a safety issue with the grip.

      Completely Useless for Me

          Comments about NRS Natural Gloves:

I got these gloves for Winter sea kayaking use in the Long Island Sound (water temp: upper 40s). Being unlined, the gloves take some work to get into. That would be fine if the gloves were water proof.

I found that even just dipping one's finger tips into the water resulted in an immediate influx of cold water, and it didn't warm up like one may expect from a wetsuit. One glove IMMEDIATELY soaked thru at the finger tips, the other glove took a brief moment before leaking - felt absolutely porous.

The wrist seal appears like it would work, but given the leakage by the rest of the glove this feature is mute.

The pre-curve-shaped glove, in principal, should work nicely. However, I found due to the palm texture/material, I had a terrible grip on a carbon fiber paddle; no sensitivity, and no grip. Perhaps it is better on wood.

After a couple of minutes of use, I immediately removed these gloves. It was apparent I would not want be find myself in the water wearing these gloves in any sort of emergency, or getting my hands in the water for any length of time. Too clumsy, terrible grip, and leaks way too much.

At the time I switched to a lighter pair of NRSs I have, and tho my hands were wet, they at least warm up.

Other than all this, the gloves do appear warm, as long as they are dry.

Due to the pre-shape, and the effort it takes to get the gloves on, one might order a couple of sizes to find what fits best for you - provided you want to try this glove.

          Comments about NRS Natural Gloves:

These gloves are pretty darn good. I have used them for over 200 miles of kayaking during the last month in air temps in the upper 20s to low 30s and water temps in the 34 to 38 degrees F. They have been comfortable and warm enough. My only gripe is that they are somewhat slippery on my carbon paddle. Other gloves that have started slippery soon became more grippy, not these.

          Comments about NRS Natural Gloves:

I bought these for winter kayaking. had been using NRS Maverick gloves w/hydrocuff. The NRS Natural gloves are at lease twice as warm, easier to put on and more durable. No doubt the best cold weather kayaking glove I have used. Only drawback is slippery grip which was easily fixed by putting sticky tape on my paddle. Can't do much other than paddle w/gloves on but easy enough to take off & put on again. Will buy another pair. Worth every penny. Pre-curved fingers nice feature, helps hand fatigue.

            Q:

I am not really sure how to measure size accurately. It seems to me that by changing the angle of measurement minimally I can fluctuate easily by 1/4 inch from S to M to L size.

I ran in to the same problem. I had to return my first pair, but NRS was very
responsive and speedy in my exchange. I found that if you take your smallest
dimension and add 1/4 inch, you should be
OK. If you don't, the fingers may be to short which is not good if you need them
to perform to there max. efficiency. After I got the right fit, I found that
this glove is outstanding! I used it in extreme
conditions and I don't believe I could have picked a better glove. Hope they
work well for you. Good Luck!

Measure according to the diagram on the sizing tab - base of the index finger, diagonally to the widest part of the "heel" of the palm.
