These shorts are ideal for those long paddles where chafing can be a concern. I've paddled 9 hours at a time with these on and was comfortable the whole time. The design and placement of the pockets is excellent. You don't have to worry about items falling out when you are seated in the cockpit and reaching them, even while paddling, is easy. The only negative, which is minor, is that the strap used as a belt is cut exceptionally long resulting in an extra strap of about 8 inches flapping around at the waist.

Shorts themselves feel fine, but the belt broke on first use. This is the fourth NRS product fail this season, including 1) Farmer John shorty seam split, 2) hydroskin sock seam split, 3) dry pant cuff tear, 4) Gunnison shorts belt break. NRS is great about returns and exchanges, but that doesn't help much when your gear fails on the river.

I was looking for a pair of shorts with the ability to be comfortable, look good and dry quicker than most. These are all of the above. I can also trust the pockets to hold shut and not lose my stuff. I kayak the lakes in them, go to town in them..doesn't matter where or what, they look good and I like them a lot.
