Comments about NRS Stampede Jacket - Closeout:

I had to get the small, usually I take XS, so this is a fit for a small frame person. Quality is excellent. I have surfed 2 hour sessions with multiple rolls and noticed my arms were dry when peeling off. Not for super cold gnarly days. Light enough to be non restrictive. I like the neoprene neck gasket, I have not rashed up yet. Works well with a long sleeve hydroskin top.

This is my second Stampede. The first one lasted 5 hard years. I see construction upgrades in this model. My only caveat is that the user may want to ORDER UP ONE SIZE, then the fit issues go away. I'm normally a L in most tops, but I needed an XL for the Stampede. With this top, I'm in no need of a full dry top. When it gets cold, I'll just switch to the drysuit.

                            Q:

Hi I just bought this jacket (delivered today). The product label does not specify any latex in the product. I have a latex allergy and when I tried on the item I noticed a reaction. Upon further review of your website, I see that there is mention of latex as part of the wrists closure system..... is that correct? If so, I will definitely not be able to use the product.

yes, there is latex in the jacket. I'll take it if NRS will give it to me
for free. The wrists and the neck likely have latex infused into the
                              rubber.
Man, I hope my email doesn't get hacked because of this email.

Yes, the wrist closure includes latex gaskets on that jacket. As a
operating room nurse, I see latex allergies frequently, and have often
wondered if there was an alternative for paddlers with a latex sensitivity-
I have not see one yet. That jacket has neoprene at the neck (unsure if
there is any latex mixed in..) I could see a potential bad outcome if
someone with a serious latex allergy used a dry-top with a latex neck
gasket- the potential for a reaction that could compromise the airway is a
                              little scary.
Happy paddling and good luck in your search for an alternative.

If the purchaser has a latex allergy, and if the cuffs have latex as is stated on the website, then the purchaser should not use the jacket.  The skin reaction that was noted when the jacket was tried on is a good indication that the purchaser will not be able to use this, or any other jacket with latex in it.

Latex gaskets are quite common on dry tops and suits. There are a couple that have neoprene gaskets, but those are only semi-dry. You may try for that if you can tolerate neoprene.

Denier is a measurement of thread weight. 40-denier thread in one direction and 70-denier as the cross thread. That material is the outer fabric, then there's a waterproof-breathable coating applied to it. The ".5" is a stippled pattern applied over the coating to protect it from abrasion.
