This product is great for what its meant for. Keeping you somewhat dry while paddling/fishing from a kayak. Its very comfortable and durable. Its a great product however I believe its a little on the pricey side that's why I only gave four stars.

Comments about NRS Men's Edge Splash Pants:

Purchased these pants in anticipation for use on the YAMPA and GREEN RIVER and never used. Handed them over to son for use on upper ANIMAS RIVER ~26 miles, Class 3 and 5 in Durango, Co. When he called late that night to thank me I knew that the pants met and exceeded expectations. Water temp 40 degree from snow melt. Leg closures kept the cold water out and as bowman that helps. Fabric selection on buttocks keeps you seated. Easy to get into, even when wearing layers.

          Service and delivery comments:

Went to REI to put hands and try on product and there were no men's Edge pants. Called NRS and spoke to associate. He knew the product line, and intended uses, gave him my height, weight, waist line and he responded with recommended size. I was a little worried. When they arrived, on time and in good condition, they fitted RIGHT ON. I have never put that much trust in someone else to select and fit my outdoor gear and personal protective equipment (PPE).

I use these pants when whitewater paddling in the winter months. Great for keeping you dry if there is water in your boat but if you swim they can leak a bit. That said they are much better than a wetsuit and much cheaper than a drysuit.

If you're adding a lot of bulk under the pants, the XL might be more comfortable. Or, order both sizes and return one.

Large should fit best (they probably will be a little long- I'm 6' and they're long for me).  Great pants, though.

I am 6'2" and weigh 250 with a 40-42 inch waist. The XXL fit me well. I chose that size based on the NRS sizing chart that is reliable. Sounds to me like a large would fit you but I recommend referring to the sizing chart. .

I'm 6'2" and the XL are a little long on me. But I'm a 36 waist and
they fit perfectly around the waist. So you have a dilemma! The L
will fit your height better, but the XL will fit your waist better.
I'd try the L... if they are too tighjt around the waist, you can
always exchange them. NRS is great about that!

                  Q:

I fall into both L and XL for these and trying to decide which to order. I am right at 6', 180#, 35 waist/32 inseam.
I plan to use these as normal boat/fishing/wet hiking pants and also for kayak fishing, very often with no layer under them, so I don't want them way too big. But at times I will need a thin base layer under them, so I do need room for that.
What do you think? Would a L have room for the thin base layer? Would the XL be too big/long?....cheers, roger

XL way too large if your size is 180, 35, 32 I am 175, 34,32 and they fit perfect. I could fit thin long underwear under mine without being too tight and not baggy at all. I originally ordered the endurance pants and sent them back, they were way too baggy!!
                    Good luck I love mine!

I have a pair. I use them about the same way that you are thinking about using them, Roger. I have put base layers on underneath them and I use them as my rain gear as well. So, I am able to throw them on right over whatever I am wearing. They work great! I love them!
                    I'm about 5'10 / 190lbs. : 34 waist / 32 inseam
I wear a large and they are perfect. BUT, I would not go any smaller!!!!! The waist is not the problem for me, nor is the length. Its the thighs. Any smaller would be uncomfortably tight for me. Especially with clothing on underneath.
I do tend to wear clothing that is lose fitting. I do not like to feel restricted by my paddle gear.
You may want to try the XLs. You are (obviously) taller than I. But, you also (IMHO) seem to fall better into the XL scale of their sizing chart.
I would worry that the Large would be just a little too snug for you if you decided to wear them with a base layer or threw them on over some other clothing.
Net/Net: I don't think the XLs will feel to big, especially if you have layers underneath. The large would probably work, as long as you didn't really wear anything underneath. Of course, that sort of restricts your use of them. According to the sizing chart, XL should not be a problem for you at your height.
2nd Net/Net: NRS has an awesome return policy.
If I were you, I'd probably order the XL and see how they fit. Try them commando, with a base layer and with full on clothing. If it feels too baggy, long or whatever, return them for the large.
Good luck and I hope this helps!

with shorts or sweatpants underneath, sure they're loose fitting but length
was good, great for sailing or kayaking. I purchased on line so cant
                    compare with L size.

long for me and has plenty of room for a polyprop midwight layer
underneath. I think the L would probably be better than XL for you.
