The NRS HydroSkin vest is great under a paddling jacket or worn alone on those sunny days when the water is cool. An ideal layer that keeps your core warm without the bulk.
  • The 0.5-mm Terraprene™ core of the material provides insulation.

  • The 4-way stretch PowerSpan™ outer fabric layer moves with your body for unrestricted mobility and comfort.

  • ThermalPlush™ inner lining repels moisture and dries quickly.

  • The titanium laminate adhesive reflects back your body's heat, increasing warmth without adding bulk.

  • DWR coating forces water to "bead" and roll off the material, reducing evaporative cooling.
  • Neoprene:  0.5-mm Terraprene™ neoprene

I have the Hydroskin shorts and they fit very well for the size. Got the vest as a Christmas gift and was very disappointed that the 2x was sized more like a large -I'm a XL.

I was looking forward to the quality and thin warmth I've enjoyed with the shorts. Sorry, fit is kind of important, so could only give this product two stars. If I could wear it, would have been at least four stars.

The vest was exchanged for something I could use and NRS was very easy to deal with during this process.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Vest:

While kayaking the upper Missouri River in early spring, this added extra protection & warmth from the cold water from spring run-off. Was very comfortable and after several minutes I forgot I was wearing it. Once the temps start rising, it does get a little warm though. Otherwise...GREAT PRODUCT!

Love the product. Used to either freeze with nothing or be over warm with more gear. This was fantastic. Haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but it certainly seems like it will be.

It is form fitting and I think it should be. I wear it under a wetsuit (tapered 5,6,7) when I snorkel down rivers and it keeps my core warm in 50 degree water.

Our HydroSkin pieces are lightweight wetsuit garments. They are meant to fit snug to minimize water intrusion and circulation.

I find it (but I don't remember which size I ordered) form fitting but not
tight. I wear it over my spray skirt and believe it will reduce the water entry
on a roll somewhat, but I haven't really proved that. I am a skeptic about
farmer John's in the SF bay 52-54 degree water and wear it whenever I don the
wetsuit in those conditions. It is not restrictive at all.

                Does this material breathe?

Or is it like other neoprene material in that it doesn't breathe.

                Thanks!

No, you're right, it is neoprene and the body doesn't breathe.

It's like typical neoprene - no it doesn't breathe.

Sorry, this is for maintaining body temps: it does not breathe. I wear a
wicking material underneath, which directs perspiration down to my waist.
