NRS Back Band
- This kayak-outfitting essential seamlessly blends soft conforming foam with support and economy.
- The 6.5" tall x 17" long back band comes with two sets of mounting straps.
- One set of straps lets you anchor the back band through slots in the seat towers (posts).
- The other set of straps have grommeted ends that attach to an existing bolt in your outfitting.
- Tension adjustment on either system is easily made with the NRS cam buckle.
- Also includes straps for anchoring the top of the back band to the cockpit coaming.

I use the backrest for slower paddling. As the tension is fully adjustable, I only use it when I need the support. Overall quality is superb.
After two attempts at making my own rest, I bought the real deal. The design is well thought out and it provides great support while allowing a practical level of hip rotation. Highly recommend for surf ski use.

the aluminum buckles area ok in fresh water but sea water will corrode them if not washed properly after use, this is from experience. I replaced the buckles with heavy duty nylon buckles. Otherwise it is a great product.

A post and grommet attachment is an attachment that uses a post and a grommet. A grommet is a metal ring with a donut hole that is press fit into a nylon strap. A post is a metal piece that fits inside the hole in the grommet. The IR backband uses a plastic ratchet system similar to a snowboard boot buckle that is different from the NRS backband, which uses nylon straps and metal cam buckles. The NRS backband does not come with a plastic ratchet system. If the customer desires a plastic ratchet system attachment then they should exchange the NRS backband for an IR backband.Answered on 11/1/2012 by Anonymous

The Back Band comes with two types of attachment straps. One has a metal stopper on the end that you slide through the side outfitting post.
