Product provides good additional padding, especially for long trips. Did a 26 mile bike ride on Saturday and a 12 mile kayaking trip on Sunday with no discomfort. I don't like the stick on option for the pad. I have been laying it in the existing seat pad as I like the option to let both dry at the end of a long trip. A velcro type option would be great for those with existing pads already integrated with the seat. My factory seat is great for a couple of hours, this seat makes it great for at least 6; probably more.

Comments about NRS Seat Pad - Soft:

After installing an air seat which was recommended for my wooden pygmy kayak, I was having some hip pain. The cockpit is very small and not much room for movement. Once I installed my NRS soft seat, the pain has been eliminated. I think the contour did the trick. I must have been getting some nerve pinching and the seat has been wonderful on longer paddles. Thank you for such a great difference in comfort.

I did put this in my kayak, because it is less expensive than a new seat, however, it is very hard. It would be nice if it were a bit softer.

Comments about NRS Seat Pad - Soft:

Adding the pad makes for a much more comfortable paddle, especially on longer trips (3+ hours or more). While my kayak does have some padding this seat makes it much better and I don't feel the need to shift around all the time. When others are ready for a break, I'm fine to keep going. The only drawback is that it doesn't fit my seat 100%. I haven't pulled the backing off yet to attach it; prefer to just drop it in when we're ready to start. Just ordered another one for a friend.

                      Q:

I have a 93 Valley Pintail & 94 Nordkapp. Will this fit either boat, both have the hard hanging seats, not the foam seat. If it fits which would be better the soft or the firm version? Would the Padz foam seat be a better choice? Thanks

Seamus, are the seats in your boats contoured to match the curves of a bottom, or they just a flat surface? It they're flat, either of these pads should work. If they're contoured, only the soft model could conform to them. Whichever one you choose, before removing the sheet covering the self-stick surface, press them in place to be sure they will conform to your seat.

All I can tell you is that I installed this seat pad on my Old Town Predator K111 kayak and it is much more comfortable
now than before. I use this for fishing the banks of small lakes. It has worked great for me.
                        Hopes this helps.

Yes, this seat is made of dense, non crushing closed cell foam, and it does not absorbs water. I have a short torso, and I love the way that it elevates me to more powerful paddling position. It has made longer paddling trips more comfortable.

                        Hello,
I purchased this seat a few years back. I'm not sure if it is made of dense memory foam, but it seems to be waterproof, as water will collect in the bottom of the seat. It does get damp, but dries out quickly. It has held up well and provided good cushioning, and I am happy with it.

I feel like the seat is made of pretty dense foam. It's got some squishy
to it but it certainly prevents me from feeling the hard plastic of the
bottom of my kayak! Waterproof....it doesn't absorb water very much from
                        my experience but YMMV.

I can't tell you if it is waterproof or not ( I try not to get it wet). I installed this on a small kayak I have that I use for fishing and to access
hunting areas away from the crowds. What I can tell you is that this seat has made using my kayak more enjoyable due to the padding that it provides. If you are looking for a more comfortable seat I would definitely recommend it.

Hi, I have this seat. I'm not sure if it's memory foam but it's dense. It does serve well as a cushion (I use it on my raft) and yes, it is water proof. Over a few years the blue lining has come loose and has worn away but the cushion still works well. Hope this helps!

I would describe it as moderately dense foam. I am glad I got the softer
model. Both the foam and the cover are non-absorbent. You do not end up
sitting in a puddle. I like mine very much.
