The battle between North and South in Long Underwear Land is over. Our WaveLite™ Shirt and WaveLite Pants have joined forces, and the state of the NRS WaveLite Union Suit is exceedingly comfy and warm.
  • Now in Polartec® Power Stretch® fleece, the industry leader, it provides outstanding warmth, wicking and comfort.

  • 4-way stretch fabric follows your movements without restricting mobility, then springs back to hold its original shape.

  • Form-fitting design allows layering without the added bulk of other mid-weight thermals.

  • "Touch points" on the fabric inner surface draw off the sweat. Then it's quickly wicked to the outer surface where it spreads and evaporates rapidly, to keep you warm and comfortable.

  • Double-stitched seams will withstand years of use and abuse.

  • Double-pull zipper for easy entry and convenient relief.
  • Fabric:  7.1 oz Polartec® Power Stretch® Fleece 49% polyester-velour, 38% nylon, 13% spandex
  • Collar:  Mock
  • Fit:  Form-fitting
  • Gender Sizing:  Men
  • Features:
    • Wicks moisture away
    • Double-pull zipper with protective inner flap

I own all the competitors suits as well and this one is by far the best and most versatile. I bought it 3 years ago for whitewater canoeing here in the Rockies and ended up using it for downhill skiing as well. It is also great as base layer in winter construction work! Not really more expensive than good long johns and long base shirt- but without the potential cold spot on your back. The first one I bought got used and washed about 100 times during its first year. Only sign of wear and tear was a lose thread on a shoulder seam. No big deal. I find the sizing perfect. I am 5.6 , 32 waist, 30 inseam at 145 lbs. Only thing I've learned to pay attention to is the two way zipper when taking a leak: inside flap could be a bit wider for safety reasons if you know what I mean....

I had the zipper fail and NRS promptly replaced. Regrettably, the zipper failed again on the replacement. I asked for refund and they agreed. These suits fit tightly. You may want to order at least one size larger and be careful with zipper. Those with large chest size and shoulders, enter and exit carefully.

Comments about NRS Men's WaveLite Union Suit - Polartec:

Purchased for under-layer for my drysuit.

Warm, fits well, easy to put on and take off. The zipper is high quality and zips two ways - great for an easy bathroom break.

The only issue I have with this suit is that when I zip it all the way up, the zipper bulge digs into my neck/throat. I usually keep it zipped down a couple of inches to avoid the irritation.

The union suit is a great addition to my drysuit. Not as cumbersome as multiple layers that can move and bunch up as the day progress. WW SUP/Surfing throws you around a lot and this stays put.

If the zipper issue was not an issue, I would have given this 5 stars.

Comments about NRS Men's WaveLite Union Suit - Polartec:

I was worried about the sizing since I usually go with Large but X-Lg was recommended by the chart and it was dead on. I am 5'11" and 200 lbs. I use this suit under my NRS Aegis Drysuit when kayaking in the cold. I have immersed my whole body into 40 degree water and found it very tolerable with only this suit under the drysuit. Of coarse I would recommend more layering for colder temps in the 30's. I have used this a couple times under my Aegis Drysuit and it was all I needed for 40-50 degrees air temp and water in the 40's. I could have gone out in 30 degree temp range since I was plenty warm in the high 40's along with 10-15 mph winds. The Aegis drysuit I use is nonbreathable so thank God this suit did a great job wicking away body moisture.

will this be warm enough for 45 degree air and 50 degree water temps - give or take a few? under a kokatat gore-tex Meridian dry suit? I figure everyone will be different, but is this good happy med? worn just over swim trunks?

I do find this warm enough in 45 air, 50 water temps. I often times have a

BUT need extra with air temp in 20's!!

Yes , I am comfortable in below freezing air temps and lower 40 degree water temps in a Kokatat Meridian while whitewater kayaking . If you are a active sea kayak'er (paddling all the time) you might over-heat.

I've worn this on the Rogue in Feb. 40 degree high temp air, 40 degree water.
Also for SRT class on the Sandy in Nov. Worn under dry suit with only sports
dry underwear, t-shirt and good wool socks.
Plenty warm both swimming (SRT) and rowing.

For me it's plenty warm enough at those temps. I wear it over a poly t-shirt or bare skin with exoffico briefs, and under an NRS inversion kayak drysuit. My winter immersion wear test was 45 degree air with 35 degree water and I was comfortable. For a comparison I'm 5'8", 160, and live in central Pa, my immersion test was done on the susquehanna river and at a state park lake near Exton. My wife also uses the wavelite union suit, she is much thinner and smaller than I am and for the same immersion test needed lightweight base layer of thermal pants and long sleeve top.

Shouldn't be a Prob Man. As a white water junky we boat till freeze up even around ice chunks. We stopped this year at Christmas and was in the water the 3rd week of march to start last season. hoping to be on the water as early or earlier. Before this suit I would layer under my kokatat dry top and pants and be so bulky it was hard to manoeuvre and even roll some times. With this suit I can cut down on my layering. If you are in really cold water just throw a light layer over the suit and you will have no problem

Pretty much. You might wear an additional light fleece jacket over it or
a midweight shirt under it. Also, if you're a hardsheller or rafter it
will do better. I'm an inflatable kayaker, and we get submerged a bit
more, and it's still plenty warm for me.

Yes, I use the unionsuit under a Meridian drysuit. I'm super comfortable in
all conditions even down to 40 F air and 40 F water (I haven't been out in
colder yet). I thought I might need a second layer under the suit for
really cold days but that hasn't been the case so far. Good luck!

I have found that the NRS Men's WaveLite Union Suit is more than enough to keep me warm under my kokatat meridian drysuit in similar conditions. However, I usually carry a zip up (so you don’t have to take off the neck gasket of the drysuit to put it on) fleece jacket with me in a small drybag in case I get cold. Wool socks and good booties are a must as well.

No rear flap. This is a typical union suit made of stretchy Polartech
