Cleanwaste WAG Bags
- Each WAG Bag kit contains an outer zip-close disposal
bag, a waste collection bag preloaded with waste treatment
powder, toilet paper and a hand sanitizer
towellete.
- The WAG (Waste Alleviation and Gelling) Bag contains
enough gelling powder for 3-4 uses.
- The double bag system is made from a puncture resistant
material. It's spill proof and hygienic.
- The double bagged WAG bag is approved for disposal in any garbage can.
- In addition to use while boating, the bags work great
when hiking, backpacking, rock climbing or as part of an
in-home emergency kit.
- They're essential for backcountry winter sports when
it's impossible to dig a "cat hole" for burying
waste.
For example, the Cleanwaste system is only approved by the National Park Service for use in the Grand Canyon section of the Colorado River for day use and side hikes. You will need a different system for use in camp. Always pack out used bags in a rigid, waterproof container.

A solid waste disposal system is required for hiking away from camps and the long day hikes done on a grand canyon trip. We purchased wag bags for our trip and found them to be an easy solution that passed the NPS permit test on launch day. Make sure to have a small rocket box or other watertight container to put used bags in as they cannot go in the groover or trash. It would be essential to double check any new Grand Canyon requirements before heading out on your trip.

Very satified with this product. I'm currently stationed in Afghanistan and we do not have easy access to the Latrines. Therefore, I have the porta-potty setup in my 6x8 room. I utilize at night and every morning I seal the bags and dump in the dumpsters. It containing deorderizer prevents it from smelling throughout the night. I would be loss without the product. Highly recommend this to anyone for camping and deployed.

After years of using the rocket box and then having to go home and clean everything, the PET system using the WAG Bags was incredibly easy. Stored 7 days worth for 12 people in 1 and 1/2 ammo cans. When I got home all I had to do was empty the ammo cans in my dumpster and I was finished!

I love the wag bag system! It is clean and easy and at the end of the trip you simply throw it in the dumpster. It is also great to keep one in your ammo can on day runs for those unexpected afternoon poop attacks, or to handle the guttural response to scouting a large rapid. I recommend only two uses per bag. That makes the groover instructions simple: "if you are the first, leave it. If you are second seal it and open a new one for the next person."

It is designed for a single use and a single setup. By adding additional
poo powder after each use, we typically get about 5 uses per setup. We put
the used toilet paper in a separate bag. Each time we setup a toilet, we

Typically you can get at least three uses in a bag. What we do when using this system is put in a fresh bag, then place three rocks (or pine cones, sticks, etc) on the toilet lid. You would need to know the local ordinance and health code to answer your
question.
If I had the problem, I would make sure the bags were properly mixed
according to directions and I would hold the used bags in a large outdoor
container (large, heavy duty barrel suitable for a construction site) until
I could transfer the bags to an approved dump site.
In ground disposal can have surprising and long term unintended consequences

The Cleanwaste Bags are approved for disposal in a sanitary landfill. Legally burying them would depend on where you were doing it. I would think that if were legal to bury untreated human waste, it would probably be okay. If not, I'd say not.Answered on 12/13/2012 by Clyde from NRS
