I have only used this these stakes at the beach. You can't ask for a better item to secure your personal items down, from bags to towels to canopies, these stakes keeps them from blowing away.

Besides tying down canopies, blankets, and tents at the beach, I also use the Blue Claw Sand and Soil Stakes to secure bags and coolers. Although it's does not make your items theft-proof, it would make it more difficult for a thief to casually walk off with your items.

Used these in Caolina Beach to hold down canopy. They worked well but the sand must be soft to screw them down far enough.

We bought these last fall just before a trip to Cape San Blas, Florida.
The sand there is very fine (to me anyhow). We bought the large stakes.
The stakes worked very well - we had to work around a spot where a hole had been dug previously and there was just no bite for one stake (the last one of course :) ), but overall, these stakes kept our screened shelter upright for three days - each stake screwed into the sand easily, and then they held fast until it was time to remove.
Probably had them a little far out at first (see the 2nd picture) - but they worked well.
No problem with take-down either. We recommend these.
