My main beef is that it's not obvious enough which side is sharp and which side is the flat side. I can envision cutting my thumb in a pressure situation due to holding the knife upside down. After only three outings in the Gulf of Mexico there is rust that keeps forming on the knife edge and in a couple of places where the yellow cushion grip and knife metal meet. What concerns me the most is that the spring used behind the "ejection button" on the sheath is completely rusted already and will probably fail in a couple of months. And this is after the knife and holder have been submerged in fresh water after every use. Very disappointing! Reviewed by 38 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 1-5 Previous | Next » Pros

Comments about NRS Co-Pilot Knife: Other knives I've owned were too long and I frequently bumped them with my left had when I needed to row hard and fast through whitewater. This one stays up and out of the way. Very secure in the sheath, too.

Best Uses Comments about NRS Co-Pilot Knife: Have gone through two knives by now...without using it on the river. The problem is the cheap plastic attachment sheath snaps with no effort at all. Two knives and both sheaths snapped when climbing back into the raft and the knife was gone. All that was left was the broken plastic tip wedged in the attachment point. The time when you really need a knife is in emergent situations but if your knife cannot stay with you during an unplanned swim it is no good. If I needed a casual knife to open bottles or spread mayo I can pack a $5 folding knife and put it in my pocket. A good knife is ruined by a cheap, unreliable clip on system. It's too bad.
