Comments about Princeton Tec Fuel Headlamp:

The Princeton Tec Fuel Light is one of the brightest in my collection with its 4 LED bulbs. It is light weight and adjustable. Princeton was making an almost identical 3 LED light system for L.L. Bean. But this one is far superior with its 4 bulb system. It would get one more star from me if it were able to have a red illumination function. But the basic functions of this light are a cut above the rest.

This sucker is far brighter than the Petzl I bought (it wasn't a cheap Petzl either). The switch is much easier to use than the Petzl, and it's less expensive.

                  Q:

Can I effectively and comfortably wear it under a swift water helmet?

                    A:

I would not advise using the Princeton Tec Fuel headlamp in wet conditions. I actually destroyed one while backpacking in a driving rain. In dry times, this light is fantastic. It's lightweight, bright and has a decent battery life. The fairly slim form factor and low weight make it an easy carry. I would think wearing it with a helmet may be possible, yet the lack of a waterproof, or even water resistant, seal, renders it unsuitable for river or ocean activities. I ended up buying a very slim, waterproof headlamp for kayaking and rafting.

I like this head lamp very much, and I use it a lot, but I haven't worn it
under a helmet. I think that might push it too far down your forehead. It's
fine under a hood, but not under a baseball cap. Hope this helps!

                    A:

The strap is fairly thin, so you could wear it under the helmet. However, the Fuel is rated as "splashproof", so probably wouldn't be appropriate for use in a whitewater situation where it might be submerged. The EOS and Quad are rated for submergence and would be better choices.

Despending on the fit of the helmet I would think so. The elastic band is thin an the light does swivel.
Be wary of the clip for the battery housing. Mine broke and I use a sturdy rubber band to keep the contact points. It is not water proof and that would probably not work in your situation.
                    Good luck
