Comments about Princeton Tec Apex LED Headlamp:

Great lamp. Second one I owned. First one got knocked off my head during a race in NJ. Bright, comfortable, adjustable - worth the dough. Be warned that battery life is short if you run on the highest lumens.

Comments about Princeton Tec Apex LED Headlamp:

an all around "just okay" headlight, which for the price is unnacceptable. I've put everything else I've bought from NRS through its paces, including an HD bills bag that I'm still using to haul 80+ pounds of gear in a watterlogged dinghy. It's an alright light, but beneath NRS.

Comments about Princeton Tec Apex LED Headlamp:

The Princeton Tec Apex LED Headlamp is clearly the muscle truck of headlamps; it puts out in a big way. If you are used to and don't mind the rear mount battery pack, then the Princeton Tec headbands are quite adequate at providing a comfortable platform for this extremely versatile headlamp. The buttons are easy to find and equally easy to use and provide an exceptional gear box to select the most appropriate light that you need for near and far and social lighting tasks. One note about the off switch, it's not all together intuitive and requires some getting used to. Once you have summited the learning curve, it's a natural. There is one negative to this beast and like all muscle trucks, it's a fuel hog. We have two lamps in our house and they both burn batteries in a conspicuous manner. Ironically there is a fuel gauge on this headlamp (the first that I have ever had). A blinking light under the main bulb blinks a color code to let you know useable battery life. Initially this seems like a nice feature, but It turns red way to quick and it the tent at night it's a bit retro disco ball disruptive. If they can get the battery use under control, then they have a homerun.

      • Princeton Tec Apex LED Headlamp

        Q:

Will this light fit securely onto a NRS Rogue full coverage helmet and is it adjustable to tilt down to be usable on that helmet? Need to know ASAP. THis is to be used for swiftwater rescue so is this truly waterproof to 3' depth? Critical information. If this is not the best for swiftwater rescue application please reccommend the best light that fits the NRS helmet and will last. Please reply to peter.vonwiesenthal@cyfairvfd.org

          A:

I'm assuming by NRS "full coverage" helmet you may be referring to the NRS Chaos Full Cut Helmet. The Apex will fit on it and it is rated to be waterproof down to one meter, for 30 minutes. Princeton Tec makes great headlamps
