Comments about Watershed Colorado Dry Duffel:

Used this bag for 12 day Grand Canyon rafting trip. Everyone else in the group, using conventional drybags, was jealous of me with the duffel. It is much easier to access gear in this than a top loading bag. No problems with opening and closing and was perfectly water tight.

The seal is hard to close. My wife had carpal tonal surgury last year and doesn't have the hand strengh to close the seal. Maybe a roller of some kind would help.

Comments about Watershed Colorado Dry Duffel:

Used this dry bag on a 3 week Grand Canyon trip. What a pleasure to use this bag. It withstood a lot of abuse with wet and sandy conditions and worked perfectly. Nice wide mouth opening to access all your items inside. Very Durable material. I would recommend this bag to all River runners. Just learn how to open & close properly before you go out on the river. It's easy once you get the hang of it. Only negative would be the straps for carrying. I wish they had a shouder strap or backpack straps . One has to carry it like a duffle bag and when the bag is heavy it was awkward.

                    Q:

Is this bag difficult to close and get airtight if it isn't very full? I know the traditional expedition style large dry bags don't seal well if not full, since you have a large amount of air and can't roll the bag enough times before you need to clip it down.

                    Thanks.

Watershed Colorado is the best dry bag out there. If not full, just zip the closure ALMOST closed at the end, then lay on the bag to compress the comtents and expell the air...then finish zipping, roll over the top and strap it tight. Some Watersheds have a valve to expel OR add air (use as a float). Be sure to keep the zipper treated and clean...and follow the directions for opening the new style bag...push-pull.

Super easy to use and no issue burping if the bag is half or full.

This bag is essentially super zip-lock Baggie. After you press the giant zip-lock together, you fold it over then pull the straps over the folded part. If you can get it zipped folded and strapped, I don't think it will come apart or leak. Mine looks extremely well made.

This bag doesn't need to be rolled. You just force as much air out of it as
possible, seal it and clip it, and it's good to go.

I've had no problem -- it has a zip-lock seal so you could close it with just air and it would be good to go. I like it, but it does take longer to close than the top-load bags.

I have used my bag many times in several levels of full. Air trapped in the bag can be an issue in all levels. In closing the bag stop the sealing process about an two inches before reaching the end, squeeze the bag and contents to force some of the air out. Then seal the rest of the way. This will give you enough room to roll the top. I LOVE my Watershed! I won't head down rive without it. I hope this helps.

No, it's straightforward regardless of whether it's full or nearly empty. The seal works completely differently from a regular dry bag.

I don't know, but I do know it's completely waterproof and airtight. We used two of them on the Grand Canyon. They're bombproof, not just to falling in the river but I think actually you could raft down the river on them.

I don't know if it has a IPX rating. But if closed and sealed correctly, it can be submerged in water and keep all its contents completely dry.

Angela, as far as I know Watershed has never sought an IPX rating. I can tell you that, properly sealed they are totally watertight.
