I am not sure the water bladder fits the pack very well but it works.
The pack slid down my PFD and do to excellent torso rotation the pack scratched my newly varnished deck as it traveled back and forth. Make sure you tighten it up.
The pack is easy to remove from the PFD and use on short hikes.

Comments about NRS PFD Hydration Pack:

Great product! Very comfortable once positioned on PFD properly. Easy to use. Definitely extends play time on the water. Bladder size is good for 2-3 hours. Hopefully NRS could make this in different sizes in the future (variations with different siezed bladders/pouches). Would recommend for other boaters/SUPers.

This thing is great. Attaches to your PFD to keep you hydrated all day. If you stop to do a side hike, just clip on the pack straps and you are off to enjoy a hydrated hike. Must have on the Grand Canyon or just about any other river trip.

    Nice bag, don't love reservoir

Comments about NRS PFD Hydration Pack:

Very nicely designed hydration pack, with attachment straps likely to work with most PFD's - however, the bag is rather long, and therefore fits a PFD with a full-length back (reaching up to base of neck) better than one with a short low back (like many whitewater/rodeo styles), which it actually dangles down from. Also, the "Microban" reservoir has a VERY strong chemical plastic smell and taste - I'm pretty sensitive to that, and so I had to replace it with a Platypus bag (I can't stand Camelback reservoirs either, although this was much worse). Still glad to have bought the pouch itself - nice product. Would love to see a shorter version for the short-back PFD's. . .

Comments about NRS PFD Hydration Pack:

We use these for kayaking, clipped onto PFD. Took them on a trip to Belize; worked great. Now we use them all the time. Eliminates the chafing of extra straps from a separate hydration backpack. Minor annoyance: the buckles are not all exactly the same, so if you insert the wrong buckle, it's very hard to undo. The hydration bladder is very thin plastic; not sure how long it will last.

I've used this a few times while sea kayaking and am quite impressed; it's well balanced and very easy to use and removes the need for a deck bag for the water bottle.

Will this work with a rescue pfd?

            Hi JB,
Yes, the hydration pack is set up to work on any pfd. I wear mine on an
Astral Greenjacket and it's pretty comfortable once you get used to the
            extra weight.
            Enjoy,

It will certainly attach to a rescue life jacket; however, it may interfere with the operation of the quick-release belt.

I love this hydration pack but I do not know if it will work with a rescue
pfd. I will say that it requires no special straps to put on. The shoulder
straps just loop around the existing shoulder openings. Then there is a long
nylon webbing strap that is attached to the top of the pack, goes over the
top and then down along the inside of the back where it comes out the bottom
and then attaches with a clip to the bottom of the pack. It is a very tight
fit and I have never had any problems with it moving/shifting during rescues
or rolls. I do have a full length back on my pfd. If you have a short back,
it may not fit as well.

I use this hydration pack on my PFD (non rescue style) while distance paddling; I have a composite touring kayak. Most of my paddling is on the Chesapeake Bay, offshore or the rivers on the eastern shore and this pack is a life saver. I have not experienced any problems while using this and can highly recommend it. It rides well on my back and is comfortable to wear, and most importantly, does not interfere with my paddling.

I use it with my rescue pfd. It fit fine hardly know its there. I like the idea, it does make me nervous. But have never even tried to do a tow.
I only use it in protected water good wx.
