I used this case on a recent 6 day river trip. Good size for carrying the newer large river maps. Seal was easy to use on the fly, and I didn't have any water leakage. Much easier to seal up quickly than my old case. I like that it has tie down spots on all corners.

I am very disappointed with this product. It was pretty much what I expected when I received it and it sealed well at home. But after the first couple of days on the Middle Fork of the Salmon river the seal become more difficult to use and could not be done with gloves. After four or five days of constant use on the river it would not seal properly at all. I am returning this map case and the medium one for a refund.

Straped this to a tube of my IK for a week float down the San Juan in So. Utah. I don't know if the silty water did it or what but the seal wouldn't press together after 5-10 open/closures. The seal system seems only marginally better than a heavy duty zip lock bag. Going for a amall clear dry bag in the future.

                Q:

I bought this for my iPad Mini and the XS fits perfectly as if it was made for it. The touch screen works as if the plastic isn't even there. And the water tight zipper seams to work just fine. I think this will work out great for me.

                Thanks,

                  Charlie,
I would not trust my iPad in this. The ziplock is untrustworthy. I used it in September on the Grand Canyon to protect my river guide and the seal was very hard to close. There was a lot of dirt/ mud in the water that found its way into everything so that may of had something to do with it.
I have a different make of protector that I got from Cascade Outfitters that has a much more positive locking system that I use for the iPad.

                  Charlie,
Well, I can't really help on any of your questions. I have the larger
case and use it mainly for a navigation map so I don't know about the
smaller cases. I've never tried to use my cell phone touch screen
through the plastic so can't comment there. I will say that the plastic
is pretty thick and I'd be surprised if you could use the touch screen
through it. Would be great though if you could as that would enable you
to use GPS maps while protecting the iPad.

Charlie, I bought the Hydrolock for maps. It works really well for that purpose! I don't see why it wouldn't allow the touch screen to work well (but I haven't tried it). Also, I bought the large size, again for maps, so I couldn't answer the question about the Xsmall fitting. Wish I could be more helpful. RM

Dimensions I've found online for the Mini are 7.9" × 5.30" × 0.28". The clear windows of the XS Mapcessory Case are 6" x 9", so the Mini will fit comfortably in it. I would think the touch screen will work through the clear polyurethane window, but we haven't tried it. Alternatives will be one of the Aquapac cases - http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product_list.asp?deptid=1927 - or the Dri Case Folio - http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=27406&pdeptid=2371

Yes it folds easily. Like a ziploc bag but more durable. The clear and
black are glued together plastic. Replacing it and keeping it watertight
                  would be hard. Good product!

Yes it can be folded, but usually you will have a river guide or map in it which would make folding difficult. The unit is one piece and black edge can not be replaced separately. My only knock on this item is the ziplock is difficult to close.

Yes, you can pretty much do whatever you want to it.... I have used this in
some very rough conditions with no issues....it appears to me that the
window is laminated into the frame, so you would probably just replace the
entire thing. As far as frame material goes...no stiffness or brittleness
in water down to about 40.

Yes this product can be folded, I think it works better to roll it and put it in your deck bag. I'm not the manufacturer, but I think it is some sort of plastic. I don't think it's replaceable, it appears to be one piece. I think it is a good product to keep your maps dry.

                  Hello Stephen,
Yes it can be folded but I would not recommend storing it for a long
period folded up. This might damage the window. The frame is made of
what appears to be a coated raft material but is not as heavy duty as
typically raft fabric. The clear plastic sheets are sandwiched between
two identical pieces of frame. The workmanship on mine is flawless.
Just by looking at the edge of the frame I can't tell that the frame is
actually two pieces of material. Since you end up with a double
thickness of frame material, the attachment holes are very strong. I
don't see how the clear plastic could be easily replaced since it is
fused with the frame material. Well, I guess you could cut a damaged
window out and glue clear plastic on the outside of the frame. This
                  would be probably work.

No. It is tricky. You just have to try one end, then the other, until you get a piece to catch, and then you can get it to run the rest of the opening shut, but can still occasionally find gaps in the closure. Like storage bags, this is the reason I went from zipper to zip-lock bags. With the external zipper head, the closure works better and you can actually see that it's closed.

Not really, just start at one end and push down until you feel it lock in,
then just slid down the rest of the seam pushing hard. Make sure you give
it a light tug when you finish to make sure the whole seam is engaged.
