Comments about NRS Vigilante Cable Lock:

I'd been looking for a longer cable to lock up my two boats when either shuttling or an overnight stay. This is the perfect solution. Long cable, integrated lock, compacts and stows easily. It's not going to protect you from someone with a bolt cutter, but provides the deterrent you need 99.9% of the time.

Comments about NRS Vigilante Cable Lock:

This product is used as a deterrent against the casual opportunistic thief who might scoop up a loose untethered kayak. It is also employed as a last ditch attachment to the trailer if the tie down ropes and ratchet straps should come loose. By running the cable through the trailer frame it will give me time to pull over if the other restraints should fail. The cable head and floating lock allow me to easily deploy the cable through the kayak, adjust the cable accordingly to what is available to lock the kayak to. The 10' cable is amply long to restrain multiple kayaks. The thinness of the cable does also work against it because it would not withstand the assault of someone with a decent cable cutter. As I stated at the beginning it turns away the opportunist which is exactly what I had in mind for this cable, otherwise I store my kayaks under lock and key

          What is cable diameter?

            A:

I will assume he wants to know the diameter of the cable on this cable lock and not just a definition of 'cable diameter' as his question reads.   The plastic-coated cable measures about .175 inches (about 3/16 of an inch) or about 4.4 millimeters in diameter (including the plastic coating).

            A:

            Cable diameter is .5 cm.
Length is adequate to secure one boat, not two. Make sure your boat has a
handle or other secure spot to pass cable through. One of our Current
Design boats did; another did not.

Including the coating the diameter is 3/16". The steel cable is 1/8".
