Everyone stops me to ask where I got this hat. One time, at a big event, some people stopped me to ask about my hat and while I was saying "everyone asks me about it", two other people stopped to ask about it while I was standing there talking about it! Everyone loves the look of it, besides the fact it covers my face and the back of my neck completely. I think this is my third buy of this hat, I trade them out every 18 months or so, taking the old one to the farm and keeping the new one for markets. Before purchasing it, I spoke to the people at Tula to ask them if this was a good choice and if it would stand up to being wet. They said it would be great. Unfortunately, after just a couple days on the trip, it began to smell so bad that people near my boat would say, "Why does it smell like a barn over here?" I would say it smelled like a barn that had not been cleaned out for some time. By day 3 or 4 it was so bad that I crunched it up and crammed it into a garbage box that was about to be sealed up. My boat still smelled funny for a couple of days. Yeesh. I spoke to someone at Tula again when I returned and they were surprised to hear of my issues, but didn't offer me anything (and I didn't ask since I didn't have the hat to send back anymore.) I think this would be a good hat for sun protection if it wasn't going to get wet, but would not recommend it for the river. Comments about Tula Lifeguard Hat: The Colorado is full of lost hats but the Tula Lifeguard isn't among the missing. The hat has a superior chin strap that's long enough to let the hat ride on your back when not needed and strong enough to handle three days of wind in your face while rowing the Grand. Mine was accessorized with a handmade leather band and a Phantom Ranch pin for that personal touch, all in all the hats a keeper!!!

Comments about Tula Lifeguard Hat: This hat is the best thing I did for myself this summer. I work as a landscaper, & spend downtime on the beach, or hiking. The hat looks great; I love the color & style, and the strap keeps it secure in the wind. I have a small head, so I needed to slip a little padding under the elastic brim liner, as recommended. I love having portable shade everywhere I go, & I get lots of compliments! Plus it's very well-made & sturdy. Love it!

Service and delivery comments: I was a little concerned when it arrived a bit crunched up in the box, but it flattened out nicely after I spritzed it with water and let it dry flat overnight.

Best Uses Comments about Tula Lifeguard Hat: A great hat - I would like more information on forming the brim. Place a bandana inside for greater comfort.
