The material it's made of is first rate, and the chin strap adds security the wind. You can moisten the brim and mold it up or down. I haven't taken it out paddling because I'm afraid of losing it. The Bahamas in summer can be really hot and beaches have no shade. I eventually found a locally made straw hat in a dumpster, and it was the answer to my problems. Over the years, it wore out, and I eventually gave it to a buddy. So, this was supposed to be a replacement for that. And I'm a bit disappointed. First of all, it's a bit small for my head (I got the biggest size). Not so much the circumference, it just doesn't come down very far. As it has broken in, it's gotten a little better, but it still rides a bit high and the strap is required to keep it on my head if it's windy. A nice looking, functional straw (actually palm front) hat, but beware if you've got a big head. Reviewed by 10 customers Sort by Displaying reviews 1-5 Previous | Next » Pros

Comments about Tula Sierra Hat: The XL runs small and the depth is too shallow to allow the hat to be pulled down in the wind. The rodeo model has the same 3" brim but more depth. The size can be expanded by wetting the hat and wearing it.
Pros

Comments about Tula Sierra Hat: I bought this hat to wear on a cattle ranch for sun protection. It was a good fit, well made and functional. The draw string was very useful for galloping up the hills! I have also used it for sun protection for days lounging and on the boat.
