I keep my Aeropress in a small cooler and take it with me everywhere. Along with a pound of ground beans and my candy thermometer (in case I want to geek-out about temperature) I have all I need to make a good cup of coffee.
But it's more than a good cup of coffee. It provides a very smooth cup of coffee. The gentle handling of the beans with the 175-ish degree water coddles even cheap beans. I was able to blow away a co-worker with the quality of coffee I can make from a old tin of Yuban that we found in a cupboard at the office.
I really appreciate the simple clean-up. After pressing, simply unscrew the filter holder and pop the "puck" of coffee grounds out of the bottom into your compost bin. If you're camping and conserving water you can just wipe off the end of the plunger and call it good until next time.
I'm out on patrol now and it's waiting in the back of my car for the next gas-station with an instant-hot. I don't leave home without it.
Oh, and it pays for itself every two weeks with the money I save on buying lattes and tipping baristas.

I bought the AeroPress mainly for the incomparable flavor it achieves. I had been drinking AeroPress brew from my local espresso bar and was amazed at how it didn't need to be "doctored up" to taste good. I now drink my coffee black because I'm not having to try and hide any weird flavors with sugar or cream. Another big plus to the Aeropress is that it only takes 2 minutes from the time you boil your water, to the time you can drink your cup of excellent coffee. There aren't any grounds in the cup either, not like with a french-press. Good job, Aerobie!

We enjoy great coffee (Seattleites)! Most places we travel to have mediocre (drip) coffee and non-existent espresso, or none at all. This small gadget makes extraordinarily good coffee. It is light, easy to pack, and a snap to clean. If you must tote all your potable water and pack out garbage, this device minimizes water waste and refuse generation. Clearly you must take good, ground beans and clear water but otherwise this makes coffee truly worth drinking no matter where! If you vacation in remote but lovely locations, like the Big Island, this device allows you to have your coffee and isolation too. Can't be beat!
