Boater's Guides are a must for the first run on any river. I get one for every river I run. You can write information in the guide as you float the river. Its cool to list all the camp sites and places you visit each trip for reference later. Great general information on the river and the area.

Good quality, heavy "waterproof" paper (I'm not sure any paper product is 100% waterproof). Easy to follow, with accurate, if a bit skimpy, descriptions of camp sites

This proved to be a reliable source for our rafting on the Deschutes R. We made multiple daily trips and an extended 3 day, so the guide not only provided excellent river information but camping information as well. I ended up purchasing 2 of the guides as one stays in the truck and the other on the raft for the on-river reference.
