This must be the most detailed river guide book on the market. Certainly for the upper Rio Grande. I have consulted various river guide books and online resources while "scouting" previous runs in the past. None come close to the detail and depth of information provided in Pat Bauer's "The Rio Grande".
Each section of the river is broken down to a series of detailed, color topo maps with great descriptions of local conditions, camping, river conditions, and hikes.
Well-made, spiral-bound, and waterproof. Done.

This engaging guidebook is small enough to haul on the river, lovely enough to leave on the coffee table, and helpful enough to describe both the geologic and hydrologic forces as it provides a long-needed river guide to the upper Rio Grande from southern Colorado through Cochiti lake. Clear maps, detailed river descriptions, and complimentary photos, art, and charts makes this obvious labor of love and accurate knowledge a must for anyone running the Rio Grande in NM.
