This is a great rack. It's stronger than the side rails attached to my car. I had an unfortunate incident where the bow line of the boat got loose and caught under the front wheel. The line snapped, but not before pulling the front of the boat down and ripping the rear of the side rail out of the roof of the car. The rack was unscathed.
My only issue with the rack (giving it 4 stars) is that the wingnut attaching it to the crossbars is kind of large and interferes with mounting the rack as close to the edge of the rack to make room for other items. Not a huge deal, though.

Use to transport 2 kayaks that are very different sizes on my Subaru Forester. Very easy to install and remove and held both kayaks securely even when traveling on a very windy day. Only drawback was some minor scratching where the straps came over the front of the hood even though I used the plastic covers designed to prevent this. Will add a strip on duck tape on the hood next time to try and prevent this.

I use the HullRaisers to easily carry two kayaks on the roof of my Yaris liftback. As all Yakima products these J-cradle racks hold the kayak nice & tight and never leave marks on the kayak. Quality is the best you can get. Super easy to install and remove. Easy to strap the kayaks down and off I go with full confidence that my kayaks are not going to have an event on the way to the lake. Never a single issue of loosening up or shifting.
Only draw back could be that the kayaks in the
J-cradle are sitting higher over Yakima roller and saddles holders if clearance is a concern.
Buy them, you will not be disappointed!
