I use the locks in my Q towers and on the yakima bowdown kayak racks. Installing in towers was pretty easy. I had trouble installing them in the bowdowns

I didn't think I'd really need these for security but was advised to get them just in case (insurance on the much more expensive rack). They were pretty easy to install, but it took a few seconds to understand how they needed to be oriented (that's why I gave it a 4 rather than a 5 wish it could be a 4.5). Once on I realized a great additional benefit not advertised. My latches are a bit stiff and are close to "popping" open. With the locks installed the latches can't open aand I feel much safer and more secure driving with a full load of yaks on the rack.

Installed without a problem on older rack system that I moved to my new Forester. Easy to use and add a feeling of security when traveling since I leave the rack on the car and change what's attached depending what I'm carrying.

Never had an issue with the Yakima SKS Lock Cores, but for some reason I can't get the BowDown kayak rack pieces to lock onto the roof rack. The key fits and turns fine, but when it's in locked position, I can't pull the key out. Any thoughts?Asked on 5/18/2013 by funsville from CT1 answer
