The convenience of a stacker without having to remove it in the off season. Yakima's BowDown carries one boat on padded "J" cradles and then folds down to provide a clean silhouette.
  • The BowDown carries one boat on its side, on top of the vehicle.

  • When you're not using it, fold it down to keep a nice clean look to vehicle and reduce wind whistle.

  • Padded hull guards prevent damage to your boat.

  • Fits round, square, and most factory crossbars out of the box (fit list on carton).

  • Locks to crossbar using SKS locking system (lock cores sold separately).

  • The BowDown comes with heavy duty straps to secure your boat.
  • Dimensions: 5-1/2" wide front to back, 20" at its widest. 21" tall from top of crossbar (about 5" when folded). Bottom pad is 10" x 3-1/2.
  • Weight: 12 lbs.
  • Locking: Yes, with SKS lock cores (sold seperately)
  • Attachment: Round, Square and some factory crossbars
  • Padded hull guards
  • Folds down when not in use
  • Heavy-duty straps included

    Comments about Yakima BowDown:

These are great if you don't plan on taking the mounts off your car. If you do, go with the metal ones. I believe they are not as wide as the older model. Also, they tend to fall from side to side rather than stay stationary when moving a kayak around on them - what I assume to be because of the round bar and just basic physics. This may happen no matter what product but I found that to be a downfall with the product. Not sure about longevity of the product's life because it's all plastic. If I had to do it again, I would probably go with the older, metal frame model, but it really is all in how you plan to use them!
