Needed to fill that cavity in the bow and stern of my new Skin-on-Frame kayak and these bags fit the bill. Tight seams and easy inflation make this safety addition and easy choice.

I use a large in the stern compartment and a medium in the bow of my Boreal Ookpik touring kayak. They fit very well, and are very tough. The large bag fills the entire stern compartment, which has a bulkhead but I wouldn't want to rely on it for flotation. The bow bag fits great as well.

However, after one year, the black plastic inflation hoses were covered in cracks. The stern bag won't stay inflated, and the bow bag looks like it will start leaking soon. Neither hose is exposed to chemicals, sunlight or temperature extremes. I have requested replacements from NRS, and suggested that they use a different hose material. I'll happily revise this review to 5 stars pending a positive result.

Comments about NRS Standard Kayak Flotation:

We bought two, medium size NRS flotation bags for our Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 kayaks. Our boats have only one sealed bulkhead, so this effectively added floatation to the front, allowing us to more safely kayak the Detroit River & Lake Erie shoreline. Now we can paddle with the big money kayaks and safely keep up for a fraction of the price. This is a great and cheaper alternative to upgrading your kayak.

The question from NRS was, Can I help out a fellow kayaker?
The question from the kayaker was, "We have two equinox kayaks made by
future beach , the model is 10.4"
            a. That is a statement not a question.
            b. If you wonder if it will fit take the measurements of the area you
intend to put the bag and compare them to the measurement of the bag. Note
that the bag inflates and expands. So it can conform to the space some. As
it inflates it gets a little shorter depending upon expansion.
            c. I hold mine in place with a light braided line I ran from a new drilled
hole in the deck, just large enough for the line, foward to one of the
aft D rings on the bag. I secure it in place with a figure eight knot
above the hole. I tie off the excess tail to the bungee eye strap
anchors. Leaving the tail means I can remove the bag without having to
fish a new line in when it is time to reinstall it.
            d. The bag holds air well but a good fix would be a sea kayak with
            bulkheads fore and aft.

            A:

On the product pages all our float bags list the fully inflated dimensions. Measure the space you want to fill and choose bags that are as close to filling the space as possible. It's best to have them larger than the space so they minimize possible water entry.

I don't know about the boats themselves but I'd measure the available area and choose the bag that best fits. Remember that more float bag than you need isn't necessarily a bad thing. The right bag will fit firmly in place when inflated.

I don't know. But what I did is measure the space and buy a float bag that
            approximated that shape.

Frank, the inflated dimensions of the three sizes are on the product page. Measure your boats to see what fits best. It's better to get bags that are bigger than the space; they will ensure that more water is kept out of the boat.

            Hi,
When I got one for my kayak, I purchased one the approximate size to the taper
of the boat. I then got 'D' rings on gluable discs and glued them go the inside
of the hull ... then connected the rings to the ones on the hull. As the bag
inflates, it molds to the hull anyway ...the 'F' Rings just kept it in place
            while it inflated ...

My guess would be the small bag since the medium is more than sufficient to float a 16'8" two man sea kayak.
