The large bag fills the entire stern compartment, which has a bulkhead but I wouldn't want to rely on it for flotation. The bow bag fits great as well. Comments about NRS Standard Kayak Flotation: We bought two, medium size NRS flotation bags for our Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 kayaks. Our boats have only one sealed bulkhead, so this effectively added floatation to the front, allowing us to more safely kayak the Detroit River & Lake Erie shoreline. Now we can paddle with the big money kayaks and safely keep up for a fraction of the price. This is a great and cheaper alternative to upgrading your kayak.
