We took this on a 7 day river trip and made the ice cream on my daughter's birthday (day 4). Most of the cubed ice was melted, so we didn't really have enough to make it even soft serve. It was more like creme fraiche, though much sweeter! It still tasted great on the Dutch Oven Rhubarb cobbler though. Next time we'll make it sooner in the trip so we have more ice. Easy to use, really fun to have ice cream in the backcountry and needs few ingredients. Fun, fun luxury to have, especially with kids on the trip!

The ice cream maker works really well. It takes longer if you don't "play ball" with it...but just shake it on your lap while watching TV.
Ice cream tastes great...just like the old days with the crank ice cream maker when we we kids in the 50's.

Keeping a child interested long enough for the ice cream to freeze is challenging. Best for a camping weekend when you have time in a campsite. Takes a whole bag of ice.
