Level Six Women's Duchess Drytop Q: I saw this dry top in a store last fall and thought that the waist 'straps' looked cumbersome when compared to regular velcro closures. Are they comfortable or not? Do they get in the way? Asked on 3/11/2013 by paddlerchick from Carbondale, CO Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: This dry top was a gift to a friend. Thus far, she has not complained about the straps. However, I can see where you are coming from. Her PFD is a Ninja so it fits her small frame better and has less straps to maybe "interfere" with the waist straps on the Duchess. I did get some feedback from my friend on the having to "burp" the dry top a little as she was suffering from the puffy sleeves syndrome. Other than that she said the dry top was comfortable and functioned appropriately. I am broader shouldered and tall so I have the men's Duke dry top. I don't have the same issue of "burping" the top but it is equally as comfy. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. *Ericka Heath, MSSL, BMUI* *World Kayak Ambassador-Charlotte Region Answered on 3/12/2013 by SgtRiverRat from North Carolina A: The strap system gives a very positive closure around the waist and many boaters like the system. However, some boaters find that their life jackets apply pressure that causes the tri-glide buckles to dig into their sides. Answered on 3/11/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: I bought the same top for my girlfriend. the waist band system has been fine, only issue is the protective skirt around the neck seal. It was too small for her to fit her head thru and we had to trim it back and sew it down. -Harry Answered on 3/11/2013 by Anonymous A: They do not seem cumbersome to me. I was very happy with this purchase. The quality and the fabric especially. However, I should mention that I haven't used it much during the winter and still need to break it in. Level Six Women's Duchess Drytop Q: Really trying to find a small in the violet. Why the huge price difference? Asked on 1/6/2013 by RiverRat Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: The small Duchess in violet should be in stock the first week in March. The discounted color is being discontinued, so is on closeout. Level Six Women's Duchess Drytop Q: I am not sure if I should get a medium or a large. The specs for the medium seem to be accurate, especially with the chest size. However, if you are putting more gear underneath, is it better to go with the large? Asked on 10/7/2012 by Rivrcatchr from Harrisburg, pa Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: I recommend going up a size; I fit the small specs but got medium. Having a little extra room is no big deal, but too small/not enough room for layers will feel restrictive Kate Sent from my iPhone Answered on 10/7/2012 by Anonymous
Level Six Women's Duchess Drytop Q: I am looking at both this and the NRS revolution drytop. I have heard good reviews on the NRS drytop and it too is on clearance as this one is. I am looking for a top that is going to keep me 99% dry and 100% warm during fall and winter whitewater kayaking. I want something that I can roll and playboat in that will keep me dry. I understand in rolls there may be some slight leakage between seams of the dry pants and dry top that may cause dampness, but I am looking for no major leaks and overall warmth in 30-50F weather (which means obviously colder water) that I can stay paddling in all day. Asked on 9/13/2012 by AP from Atlanta Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: Either of these tops should work for you. Of course, we're really proud of the Revolution, but we wouldn't be carrying Level Six if we didn't think they made a good product. Answered on 9/14/2012 by Clyde from NRS
Level Six Women's Duchess Drytop Q: What is the arm length on medium size and large size? Asked on 9/11/2012 by Shredder from Landenberg, PA Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: My wife has a medium Duchess Drytop, the length on the bottom of the sleeve from the armpit to the end of the cuff is 22.5". FYI, I don't know how well the Duchess works, but I have the Duke and water leaks in through the arms pretty quickly and easily. It's not a ton of water, but enough to be noticed and be cold if the water is cold. Neck gasket works well though. Answered on 9/12/2012 by Anonymous A: From center of back to end of sleeve cuff - Medium 32", Large 34". Answered on 9/12/2012 by Clyde from NRS
