First pair top snap broke immediately , first time I tried them on, quickly replaced. More pockets then a safari jacket and it hard to lose keys out of a zippered pocket.

These shorts are not lined with an inner brief. The pockets do have mesh at
their bottoms/corners to let water and sand drain out.
I do add, the fabric is dense and smooth making these shorts durable. I enjoy
these shorts very much; probably my favorite river shorts.

No mesh liner. They're constructed like a typical "board short", but with snap closer, zip fly, and multiple pockets like a tradition pair of shorts. They are very comfortable, functional and durable. I wore them everyday on a 16-day whitewater trip in Mexico this past December.
