These shafts' plastic sheaths may expand in hot weather conditions. Therefore, it may be necessary to remove plastic that extends over the hole in the aluminum that accepts the blade button. This is easily done with a sharp knife. NRS is not accepting returns on these shafts as we are aware of the problem and offering them at a discount.
Carlisle's tough, maintenance-free, quality tempered aluminum shafts are sheathed in colorful, abrasion-resistant polyethylene tubing.
Molded plastic handles are made more comfortable with foam rubber grips.
Removable blades plus the 2-piece shafts make for easy storage and transport.
8' and longer shafts have a reinforced inner shaft for maximum strength.
The inside diameter is 1 5/8" and the outside diameter is 1 7/8". The plastic covering is very snug on the aluminum shaft and will not slide. The issue is that with temperature change the plastic may expand longitudinally causing a partial covering of the blade button hole. Simply trimming the plastic with a sharp knife solves the problem. We're just offering customers a good deal for a tiny bit of hassle.

Swelling has been a non issue for me. Has been used in temps up to 80degrees. The issue is elongation of the oversleeve at high temps. If your worried about it just trim the plastic back around the hole a half inch or so. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
