Small shaft option is available. To know if you need a small diameter shaft, measure your hand from the base of the palm to the tip of your middle finger. This has been an excellent paddle for me. It is light weight and durable, and for a much lower cost than I was able to find similar paddles. I have used it for general white-water paddling, practice, rolls, etc. and have been very happy with it.
